This Portfolio contains Accounting for Nature® Environmental Accounts for properties and projects participating in WWF's Koala Friendly Carbon Initiative (KFCI).

These Environmental Accounts are designed to track the change in koala habitat condition and koala population activity while restoration activities are conducted under the KFCI program. All restoration activities carried out within the Environmental Accounts are carefully designed and monitored using a scientific and evidence-based approach to ensure integrity and measurable outcomes.  

The monitoring method applied across all accounts within this portfolio is F-04: Koala Population and Habitat Method. This method assesses koala presence and habitat quality within the Environmental Account. In addition to baseline data collection, we aim to collect data in Year 2, Year 5 and Year 10 following restoration. Data collected includes:

• Koala Population Activity: koala activity, presence and distribution

• Koala Habitat Condition: context in the landscape, extent and connectivity of habitat, threats, food trees and forest structure 

Together, these metrics underpin the Environmental Account data, which act as a transparent and rigorous approach for evaluating ecological outcomes. This ensures that every restoration effort contributes to resilient koala populations and high-quality habitat. This approach reinforces KFCI’s commitment to integrating biodiversity restoration with carbon farming and long-term conservation impact.
