Improve your nature accounting skills. Join a growing network of professionals helping to support the emerging environmental investments market. The Accounting for Nature® Framework provides the opportunity to upskill and play an important role in the emerging markets for natural capital.

Users of the Framework can find accredited environmental specialists or accounting and auditing professionals through our directory.

Trainers.

We are developing the Accounting for Nature® Accredited Trainer Program, designed to equip qualified professionals with the skills and resources to deliver high-quality training on the Accounting for Nature® Framework and its application.

The program is currently in pilot and development stage, with full details to be released soon. Participation will be open exclusively to Accredited Experts, that meet eligibility criteria ensuring that trainers have the expertise and credibility to guide others in delivering scientifically robust Environmental Accounts.

How much does it cost?

The Accredited Expert initial registration fee is $330 (inc GST). An annual renewal fee of $165 (inc GST) applies for all Accredited Experts to maintain their membership.

Experts.

It all begins with you! Environmental Accounts are developed using the network of Accounting for Nature® Accredited Experts. Anyone advising on Environmental Account building or the application of the Accounting for Nature® Framework needs to be accredited as an Expert. There are two options available to become an Accredited Expert.

Asset Expert

You have demonstrated applied scientific expertise and can nominate your area of specialisation from our natural asset classifications (e.g. “native vegetation”, “fauna”, “soil” etc). In addition to your scientific expertise, you have the capability to develop environmental accounts.

General Expert

You have demonstrated general experience in fields related to environmental or sustainability accounting and have the capacity to lead the development of environmental accounts. Under this option, we recommend the support of an Asset Expert where Methods require specialist scientific expertise for experimental design or ecological monitoring or measurement.

How to apply?

Before submitting your application to become an Accredited Expert, we recommend you carefully read through the Expert Rules, as these contain detailed information on how to obtain and maintain Expert Accreditation. The Rules also include further information on the eligiblity requirements to become an Accredited Expert.

To become an Accredited Expert, all applicants must do the following;

  • Relevant vocational or tertiary-level qualifications in natural sciences, environment, sustainability management or other related disciplines; and

  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in a related field, such as the application of environmental accounting, natural resource audits, environmental impact studies, ecological surveys, monitoring & management of environmental assets etc.
