About the Environmental Account.

The Environmental Account covers three properties primarily used for cattle farming: Glentana, Goonoo, and Wylarah. These are relatively smaller properties within the AACo portfolio, featuring extensive grazing areas, and their boundaries are defined by natural landmarks and existing fencing.

Glentana and Goonoo are situated within the Fitzroy River catchment in the Brigalow Belt Bioregion (BRB), an area that has undergone significant modification over the past 70 years due to agriculture and mining. Within the BRB, remnant vegetation cover has been reduced to 41.5% of its original extent, with communities on more fertile soils being the most affected. Ongoing threats such as habitat loss, fragmentation, inappropriate fire regimes, weeds, pasture species, and feral animals continue to erode the biodiversity values of the bioregion. Glentana is located about 100km west of Springsure, while Goonoo, a feedlot and farming property, straddles the Comet River in Central Queensland, approximately 65km from Emerald, and 250km west of Rockhampton.

Wylarah, located on the Balonne River in the northern catchment of the Murray-Darling Basin, also lies within the Brigalow Belt Bioregion and faces similar environmental pressures. The property is situated 15km from Surat and 450km west of Brisbane. Wylarah comprises six aggregated properties—Wylarah, Cadny Downs, Talavera, Newington, Borah, and Didgeridoo.
