About the account.
The Wattlebewillbe Environmental Account covers a 22-hectare freehold property in the Brigalow Belt bioregion, within the Upper Burnett Catchment at Three Moon. It adjoins over 40,000 hectares of the Coominglah State Forest, including areas of Endangered Regional Ecosystems, and is otherwise surrounded by agricultural land. Previously cleared for intensive grazing and timber harvesting, the property has been managed for conservation and ecological restoration since 2010. Now a registered Wildlife Land Trust sanctuary, Wattlebewillbe integrates low-impact food production with biodiversity recovery, guided by ecological monitoring and a focus on habitat for the endangered greater glider (Petauroides volans).
The property supports eucalypt woodlands and open forests that provide essential habitat for threatened species such as the greater glider and koala (Phascolarctos cinereus). Two seasonal watercourses cross the property—one impounded to form a permanent water body—supporting both aquatic and terrestrial wildlife while also contributing to the site’s sustainable food production. Wattlebewillbe reflects a broader commitment to demonstrating how regenerative land use and biodiversity recovery can successfully coexist on small-scale private land.

About the landholders.
Since acquiring Wattlebewillbe in 2010, ecologist and conservation biologist Misty Neilson, together with her partner David Kenney, have managed the 22-hectare property as a regenerative conservation landscape—integrating sustainable land use with biodiversity restoration. Formerly cleared for intensive grazing and timber harvesting, Misty & David are now focused on restoration activities guided by ecological monitoring and landscape-scale priorities, with a particular focus on habitat for the endangered greater glider. They are committed to demonstrating the coexistence ecological regeneration and low-impact food production on small-scale private properties.
