About the Environmental Account.

Gurrabeal is a 332 ha former grazing property near Cooma, NSW, that has been left largely unmanaged for several years. This has led to degradation and the incursion of weeds and pest species. The property sits within five kilometres of the Southern Tablelands Priority Koala Population and supports a significant area of remnant native vegetation. Management is now focused entirely on carbon farming and conservation, with a large-scale reforestation project commencing in 2025 that will see approximately 200 ha replanted with native species, including key Koala food trees such as Eucalyptus viminalis, Eucalyptus rubida, Eucalyptus mannifera and Eucalyptus pauciflora.

The Gurrabeal Environmental Account, managed by Greenprint Nature, tracks the condition of native vegetation and Koala habitat over a 25-year period. This first account establishes the baseline condition of these assets prior to planting, against which future improvements will be measured. Greenprint Nature goes beyond the minimum requirements of the ACCU Scheme, planting with greater species richness and tailoring species selection to the biophysical characteristics of each area. While carbon credits provide the financial foundation, the account is equally intended to verify the broader environmental co-benefits of the project and demonstrate lasting improvements in habitat condition over time.

About the Account Holder.

Greenprint Nature founder, Anthony Emmett, spent 15 years working as a derivatives trader in London, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney. In 2024, he established the company with the intention of restoring native ecosystems and producing high-quality environmental credits.

The company has invested in several properties, including Gurrabeal, which, due to its hilly landscape and difficult terrain, is not ideally suited to intensive agriculture. The property was unmanaged prior to its acquisition, with heavy weed and pest incursion. Reforesting the property presents a unique opportunity to sequester carbon while restoring biodiversity values.
