Significant outcomes.

The overall baseline condition (Econd®) for the Asset Account has been calculated at 41.3.

The 492.1 ha Woodland Bird Asset Account is spread over 20+ discrete areas of remnant and regrowth/regenerating vegetation. These areas are currently bordered by cleared areas with scattered trees, or linked with narrow bands of trees that did not meet the criteria to be mapped as remnant or regrowth/regenerating vegetation. The additional 930.4 ha of cleared land currently outside of the Woodland Bird Asset Account but within the Koala Asset and Native Vegetation Asset Accounts, will be incorporated within the Woodland Bird Asset after planned restoration of cleared areas begins to support woodland bird habitat. The incorporation of these areas will break the time-series, as established in the 2025 baseline, for the overall Econd® (i.e. expanded) Asset Account. Care will be taken in communicating future overall asset and sub-asset Econd® values, to remain consistent with AfN reporting rules.

The intention of management at Stuarts Creek is that cleared areas will, through time and under management (e.g. cattle exclusion, assisted regeneration, planting), transition to woodland, and thus, habitat for woodland birds. After incorporation of the currently ‘cleared’ vegetation areas, it is anticipated that the overall Econd® will go down in the short-term, with the inclusion of a large area of developing woodland bird habitat (‘regenerating’ as a result of planned restoration).

In the longer-term, these areas will provide both improved woodland bird habitat connectivity and buffer edge effects experienced by the current small and fragmented Woodland Bird Asset areas (i.e., remnant and regrowth/regenerating vegetation), and the individual Econd®s for AU_4a/b and AU_5a/b are expected to increase.

Indicatively, an area greater than 1 ha with more than 30% coverage of native trees and / or shrub species, over 1 m high

Limitations & disclosures.

Limitations involved in the development of this Asset Account were due to the property’s historical disturbance, fragmented habitats and/or limited access. Due to the patchy nature of the vegetation which makes-up the Asset Account, surveys occasionally had to be undertaken proximal to ecotones and/or changes in broad condition state. To mitigate this potential issue and in ensuring the homogeneity of AUs (i.e. vegetation structure and condition), survey area configuration was required to be ‘modified’ at two separate sites (sites 4a-2 & 4b-9), thus resulting in a deviation from the typical circular configuration with an approximate 80 m radius. Although the shape of these survey sites were irregular, the area surveyed remained at the required 2 ha.
