This Environmental Account documents the condition of native vegetation across Hewitt’s Narwietooma aggregation in the Northern Territory, covering 1,150,867 hectares at the intersection of the MacDonnell Ranges, Great Sandy Desert and Burt Plain bioregions. Developed under the Accounting for Nature® Framework, the assessment establishes a baseline Econd® score using the Integrated Vegetation Condition Method(AfN-METHOD-V-10), which combines on-ground surveys with high-resolution drone imagery. The account captures the extent and condition of key arid-zone vegetation types, including mulga shrublands, spinifex sandplains, alluvial woodlands and cracking-clay grasslands. It also includes Lake Lewis, an ephemeral saline lake recognised as an area of conservation significance in the Northern Territory. The assessment provides a benchmark for understanding how grazing and conservation can coexist across this large pastoral landscape. This work forms part of Hewitt’s Food for the Future Program, delivered with Meat & Livestock Australia and Bush Heritage Australia, to deepen understanding of biodiversity values and guide long-term natural capital stewardship across its portfolio.
