About the Environmental Account.
This Environmental Account documents the condition of native vegetation across six Hewitt properties in Queensland, covering 197,862 hectares within the Brigalow Belt and Mitchell Grass Downs bioregions. Developed under the Accounting for Nature® Framework, the assessment establishes a baseline Econd® score for the aggregation using the Integrated Vegetation Condition Method (AfN‑METHOD‑V‑10), which combines on‑ground surveys with high‑resolution drone imagery. The account captures the extent and condition of key vegetation types, including palatable tussock grasslands, Brigalow woodlands and alluvial creekline systems, to inform sustainable grazing management and long‑term natural capital stewardship. This work forms part of Hewitt’s Food for the Future Program, undertaken in partnership with Meat & Livestock Australia and Bush Heritage Australia, to deepen understanding of biodiversity values across its broader portfolio.
