Significant outcomes.

The Assessment Unit Econd® calculated for each of the remnant vegetation varied between 79 and 85, and the corresponding revegetation areas were usually a third of that figure. The scores achieved in the remnant vegetation (which contains the reference sites) indicate that the benchmarks are set appropriately high. Even though the planting seeds are yet to emerge in the revegetation areas, their scores appear high by comparison. However, one of the main contributing factors is the lack of non-native species, which indicates the ground preparations were good in the revegetation areas. The other factor is the configuration scores, which are fairly high because there are significant patches of remnant vegetation within the 1km and 5 km radius around the revegetation sites.

One of the key outcomes of this project so far has been the excellent collaboration between Bush Heritage, Greening Australia and Canopy to support revegetation efforts. The logistics are complex in such a large-scale project, from the ground preparation to the collection of sufficient seed from a wide range of species covering three different vegetation communities.

Limitations & disclosures.

One limitation of this project was the insufficient number of references and sampled sites in the Moort_Mallet remnant areas. While we do not believe that this impacts the Econd® calculation, it does affect the minimum sampling intensity requirements.

Site EDIE_0017 has part of the data missing due to a submission issue or mishandling of the device used for collecting data. Indicator A, C and F values were missing from the plot level data.
