Significant outcomes.

There is a decline in the Woodland Bird Econd® from the 2021 baseline. However, significant variability is expected in the year-to-year Econd® owing to the nature of seasonal conditions, observational conditions on the measurement day and the general vaguery of bird movements. To ascertain statistically robust long-term condition trends through the high annual variation, it is anticipated that at least 5 to 10 years of disciplined data collection is required.

Limitations & disclosures.

Data Collection - The 2022 survey were undertaken in (early) spring while the baseline measurements were take in in mid-autumn. This was due to our (preferred) surveyor being unavailable at the time.

Control to minimise identified limitation - Diligence will be required to build an extended record of data, to discern meaningful trends in condition based upon data that’s expected to exhibit substantial annual variation. This annual variation will be part-function of differences in seasonality, in respect to climate conditions of the survey year and where there are unavoidable departures in survey timing.
