About the account.
Hawthorne Farm is enhancing and restoring native forest on its farm for biodiversity and carbon sequestration. This Environmental Account will monitor fauna and vegetation assets over 25 years, with the aim of verifying improvements to landscape condition and biodiversity.
Historically used for grazing and partially cleared, the property owners now seek to implement a biodiversity corridor that balances horticulture activities with environmental restoration. Hawthorne Farm forms part of the Southeast Bioregion and the Gympie Block subregion and is part of a State significant biodiversity corridor.
Hawthorne Farm’s riverine habitat and remnant woodland is suitable for an extensive range of flora and fauna. It provides suitable habitat for Koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus), and the creek is also suitable for a range of aquatic and threatened species.

The farm is situated on Teebar Creek in the Fraser Coast hinterland of Queensland, between Maryborough and Gayndah. The owners cultivate Australian Native Bottle Trees (Brachychiton species).
