Account showcase.

Regional-scale environmental accounting.

Australia’s first regional-scale environmental account.

In November 2022, the Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG), a Queensland-based Natural Resource Management organisation had its 5.6 million hectare regional-scale environmental account (including K’Gari Fraser Island) certified under the Accounting for Nature® Framework. The account will be used by BMRG to support the next phase of the project to connect with financial markets that are looking to direct billions of dollars into Environmental Asset investments.

National scale up.

The BMRG environmental account will be used as a practical case study to scale up the use of Accounting for Nature across Australia’s other 53 NRM Regions, and ultimately provide a national environmental account on the condition of Australia’s natural capital.
